Project Summary:
This flagship initiative focuses on strengthening the research and publication skills of Uzbekistan’s academic community—particularly PhD students and early-career researchers. Through a combination of online and offline capacity-building programs, the project aims to equip scholars with the knowledge, tools, and mentorship needed to publish in reputable international journals and contribute to global academic discourse.

Key Components:

  • HIVE: An innovative online education platform designed to deliver structured, high-quality training on academic writing, publishing strategies, and research methodologies.
  • Workshops, Bootcamps, and Trainings: Intensive in-person and hybrid sessions led by internationally recognized scholars with strong publication records.
  • Mentorship and Integration: Top-performing participants are mentored individually and invited to collaborate on research projects with the Lab, fostering real-world experience and long-term academic engagement.

Objective:
To train 2,000 scholars across Uzbekistan, with a focus on practical, applied skills in writing, submission, peer review response, and publication ethics. The project prioritizes inclusivity, academic excellence, and research relevance to regional development challenges.

Why It Matters:
Despite growing interest in academic research, many scholars in the region face significant barriers to publishing internationally, including limited training, lack of mentorship, and language obstacles. This initiative fills a critical gap by offering a systematic, scalable, and supportive model for academic capacity building that can serve as a blueprint for similar efforts globally.

Impact to Date:
Hundreds of participants have already completed courses and workshops under this initiative. Many have gone on to successfully publish their research, participate in Lab-led projects, and strengthen their institutions’ research culture

Partners:
The program is led by the Lab for Social and Human Capital Studies, with contributions from leading global academics and institutional partners such TIIAME NRU, University of Tashkent for Applied Sciences.
